Re: Geeman's Trip Report (April 2004)

DAY THREE: KINGDOM HEARTS

In the morning, I was up first- giddy as a schoolboy. I got ready, then ran down and got us some refillls on the coffee (those refillable mugs are a BARGAIN, I tell ya), and took in the view of the Magic Kingdom right at my door. I couldn't believe I was actually THAT close.
We headed out somewhat early - somewhat wearily--Just plain exhausted. But it's hard to calm the excitement for this inner boy who'd wanted to visit this place as a child and never got to. By the time we got to the parks, it was clear it was going to be a busy, packed day. Just going through the entrance took a while. We took in the sights and sounds of Main Street- walked through the crowds - oh, yeah, it was pretty much wall to wall people-- and made our way to a few of the lesser crowded things. We found Mickey's Philharmagic only had a 20 minute wait, so we did that first. Then we hopped on as a many of the small line attractions as we could fit in. At about 4 or so, we decided to go back and relax for a bit, before heading back out for more fun. Rich's back was beginning to hurt him, as well as his feet, and we pondered the necessity of renting an ECV so that he could maneuver around the park better. There's not much I need to say about MK. Every day there-- no, every moment there is magical. We finished up the evening at MK - had a great time wandering through the remainder of the Fantasyland rides and shows. While waiting on line for Peter Pan, though, RAC started feeling a little sick, queazy. He toook a mini break while Shell and I finished some of the others. While sitting on the bench, hunched over in pain, RAC got a wonderful view of the WISHES fireworks show- up close. We felt the explosions and magic going on all around us. We also got to see the Spectro-Magic parade as the park closed. That night, I also acheived my Disney dream of being able to walk back to the resort after the park closed. In all of 6 minutes, I had hiked from the gates of MK to the front of the Contemporary. Being able to do that alone was one of the hightlights of this trip for me.
