Re: The Vineyard at DCA
Awesome! Incredible!! Fantastic!!!
I ate there about 2 years ago and it was absolutely wonderful! It is one of the more expensive meals I've ever had on Disney property (second probably only to Victoria and Albert's in WDW), but was well worth it to me. If you love great food and excellent wine, particularly if expertly paired together, then this is your idea of heaven!
It's also a nice place to slow down at the end of a long Disney day - and we happened to be there when the Mainstreet Electrical Parade went by (they held the next course so it wouldn't get cold while we watched).
Having just gotten back from DLR without eating there this trip is disappointing, but it wasn't a place my group this time would've enjoyed. That said, The Vineyard Room may not be the best dining experience for you if some of the following apply to members of your group:
- people on a tight budget (as I mentioned before, it's not cheap. Dinner is/was 3 or 4 courses, with wine was more $)
- people with little children (no flaming please - I'm sure it's been done, but most kids likely won't appreciate the food choices or the atmosphere and guests at neighboring tables may not appreciate it if the kids act up. There are exceptions - I know kids who love gormet food and have better table manners than many adults. It just depends on the kids - and adults with them, I guess!)
- people trying to maximize their Disney time with attractions and shows (sitting down for a leisurely dinner may not be some Disney-fans' idea of a good use of time while in a Disney park)
- people on a diet (I don't remember 'low carb' options!)
Although some people get intimidated by wine stewards, I try to think of it as a learning experience. We had a great guy - he explained everything in great detail (very colorfully at times!) and gave us excellent suggestions on what to try based on what we liked.
Anyway, that's just my opinion.
