Re: Terror in the skies again, how "safe" are we?
This account has so many holes in it that it lacks any credibility whatsoever. To me, it's not unlike the CP bashing e-mail from a few weeks ago.
This story contains a series of factual improbabilities that are only included to make it sound more credible, and more frightening. First of all, cabin attendants are not informed who Federal Marshals are, only the pilots would know. Second of all, there are, AT MOST, 1 or two marshals on any given flight. Most flights don't have any. Thirdly, there's simply NO WAY that the passports of the so-called Syrians would be visible to this couple during an interrogation.
This is anti-muslim propaganda.
Do I believe that the skies are any safer than they were 3 years ago? Absolutely not. I think the US is spending all its money in ways that are wasteful. Living in Boston, which is preparing for the DNC, I laugh at the proposterous notion that closing down highways and crippling a city does anything for security. All it does is give the terrorists exactly what they want: financial difficulty for Americans. Make no mistake, the DNC is costing the City of Boston and the Metro Boston region 100's of millions of dollars in lost revenue, not to mention the impact that it will have on sick patients that won't be able to get to some of the best hospitals in the region.
Stories like this are, in fact, a different type of terrorism. They are designed to frighten us. They are designed to make us change our habits. Funny how this "story" was written a full week ago and yet none of the major news outlets have picked up on it. The only attention it's gotten are from a handful of websites, some of whom discount it and some of whom talk about the conspiracy that exists to keep it quiet.
But, alas, we all digress.
Can go back to talking about Disney?
