Re: Off site hotels

I'd like to add my own suggestion to this! :)

When DH and I lived in California this summer, we stayed briefly at the Red Roof Inn Anaheim Maingate. It is located on Disney Way, directly down the street from the entrance to the Timon parking lot. It cost us about $53 per night, and that was in the middle of summer!

We didn't expect much from it, but boy were we impressed! The room was huge, bright and very clean. I think it had more lights in it than any other hotel room I have stayed in, and the furniture looked brand new! The TV had, I swear, had close to 100 channels! It was definitely extended cable. The only thing slightly lacking was the pillows...they were REALLY flat, but we brought our own anway. And since you are paying such a budget price, you only get one little bar of soap every day. But we brought our own soap, too, so...no problem there!

The pool and spa were also very nice. The pool was surprisingly decent size for most of the hotels in the Disneyland area, and it was kept REALLY clean.

We had a car while we were there, and it was a quick left turn and then a straight zip into the Timon parking lot every day. Awesome! But for people without cars, the Red Roof is also on the ART route. The bus comes right into the front part of the parking lot, so it's really easy to access.

We've already booked our room at the Red Roof for eight nights in December, for only $49.49 per night!

Like I said, since you're paying a budget price, you miss out on a few little things (like no continental breakfast.) However, with the money you are saving by staying at this property, it is WELL worth it! The room we stayed in looked comparable to some rooms I have stayed in that cost over twice the price!

I don't usually endorse hotels like this, but I was really impressed with our room & the overall hotel. The sister property in Santa Ana is not NEARLY as nice, but the Anaheim property seems extremely well-maintained.
