WDW Lodging

While reading the recent post from DisneyDad, it sparked a money-saving tip that I intended to share with you and, due to procrastination I guess, I had not done so. 'til now . . .

I know how much many people enjoy staying on-site. Let's face it: although it enhances the magical experience, it can really be a budget-buster (especially for families of five since they often need to reserve two rooms.)

This year I discovered an economical way to enjoy on-site, luxurious lodging. I rented points from a Disney Vacation Club owner. I stayed at Old Key West in a one bedroom unit for five days. It was awesome! There was plenty of space: full kitchen and dining area, super-duper bathroom/spa, washer/dryer, private porch overlooking golf course . . . it was truly magical. All this on-site luxury cost me less than $500 and I visited WDW during Dream Season (mid-priced time. It identifies the number of points needed to stay in a unit at a particular time.)

The bottom line is that I heartily recomment that you check out the renting points option when you are planning your vacation. There are a number of places (including in the DVD area here on Disney Central) where you can learn more about this. I think that the primary resource is here Scroll to Disney Vacation Club and click on DVC Rent/ Trade Board.

I would do this again in a heartbeat! The greatest danger is that you may yearn to buy into the Disney Vacation Club yourself. But, that's another story . . . :D
