Actually, I think the new management was trying to lower the number of AP owners (at least that is what I read somewhere). I guess they had a lot of locals (maybe?) that were AP owners that came and didn't spend much money in the park. They were hoping by raising the cost by that much that it would force more people to by park hoppers each time they came and not renew their APs.
