Re: Shanghai Disney - 2012
China (and all Asia for that matter) is an ideal market. It contains billions of consumers in a stable and expanding economy. Just as the opening of Disneyland capitalized on the growth of domestic travel and leisure spending in the US, Hong Kong's Disneyland and successive parks look poised to capitalize on those same trends developing right now in China. Disney's potential reach and profit will increase as capitalism expands in Chinese society. The result, with Disney through its many products (radio, TV, theme parks, etc.) being a catalyst of growth and prosperity in the region, could be Disney becoming a cultural icon within China similar to the status and reverence it holds today in the US and Europe.
