I heard some other responses about it being a budgeting tool as to not overspend (which, if one gave their child money, that could been seen as budgeting as well), or giving as a gift, which makes sense to me, because it is taking an interest in the gift recipient and what they are going to do with it. I just don't understand when people say they give it to their children, instead of real money....why? Maybe I just don't get it cause i don't have children. But, if one loses disney dollars, they aren't replacable, so, it is like losing money.... please help me understand!! haha

I give them to my chilren for the same reasons some of others have stated, as far as explaining why......well, I use them for gifts and incentives all year until our trip. Why Disney Money vs. Real Money is because they can ONLY spend it towards their Disney vacation. It is really a great way to budget (my travel budget) If I gave them just plain $$, they would feel that they could spend it on anything they want...like "Oh, Mommy...."I really NEED this video game!" or "I really HAVE to have that Lego set!!!".....this in turn avoids the following statement...."Well its MY money!!!!!!!" "I should be able to do whatever I want with it!"
You see, this is just another way to make my life easier!

After all it is a WIN/WIN situation anyway.
