Disney donates money.
I didn't see this posted anywhere on here so I thought I would post it. I just read this in my mousesavers newsletter...
Disney Assists With Hurricane Katrina Rescue and Recovery
The Walt Disney Company made a corporate contribution of $2.5 million to the relief and rebuilding efforts on the Gulf Coast, as well as providing boats to assist with rescue efforts.
$1 million of Disney's contribution went to the American Red Cross for immediate relief efforts and another $1 million was designated for children's charities. The remaining $500,000 goes toward volunteer centers providing services to the communities affected by the hurricane.
Additionally, the Walt Disney World Resort and Brunswick Corporation partnered to deliver nine Trophy boats to New Orleans to support Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The boats were turned over to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and used to shuttle refugees, officials and medical supplies in the devastated city.
"We approached Walt Disney World because it has one of the largest concentrations of Trophy boats close to the affected areas of the Gulf Coast, and this would allow for those boats to be pressed into use quickly," explained US Marine's Mark Zobel, vice president of marketing.
Since 1997, Brunswick has been providing a variety of boats to the Walt Disney World Resort. The Brunswick Boat Group's Logistics operations, working with a US Marine dealer in Bossier City, La., arranged for quick transport and delivery.
