We like the Candy Cane Inn a whole lot. It's on the same side of Harbor Blvd as DL/DCA, on the same block (it's propery line is shared with DCA). It is an easy, well lit walk and they also have a free shuttle (hotel owned and operated, no sharing). It's a quiet motel (parking outside the door) with beautiful grounds and included breakfast (cereal, pastry, bagels, fruit and drinks). Very clean, nicely decorated rooms with a pretty little pool, kiddie pool and hottub area.

They offer a AAA discount if you have the membership (bring your card, they will ask to see it). It's not the least expensive place and not as close as those across the crosswalk, but a great 'what you pay and what you get' value. Very much worth the added 3-4 minute walk and extra few bucks per night.

Daisy D and Goof Father have it right. If you're not stayong onsite this is the ONLY place to go. It is totally Disney-quality from the rooms to the maids. We've stayed there 4 times now and if I'm not in a Disney resort (because of budget issues) there is no other place I would stay. The - airconditioned - FREE - private - shuttle every 30 minutes can be a god send at the end of the day with armloads of merchandise. go there go there go there!
