However, I've travelled with strollers and car seats and they DO NOT count towards your checked luggage. At least not on the trips I took, anyway thank GOODNESS!!!!

As for the exit row, YES I had a problem booking exit rows with little ones in tow. Basically on most airlines, they say that you need to be ABLE AND WILLING to help people get off the plane via that row in case of emergency. Obviously, little people can't do that.
