Both of these hotels are almost the same amount of walking distance to the main entrance, but if I had to pick one I think I would pick the Candy Cane Inn.
I like the smaller, more intimate feel of the CCI versus the Fairfield. Also, does the Fairfield have continental breakfast? Because I know the CCI does and they have a pretty good spread - better than other area hotels!
(One plus for the Fairfield: they have Millie's restaurant, which is one of my favorite places to eat around DL.
