Re: Never buy from travelocity

So sorry to hear of your problem.

It funny that I just read this post as I was planning on to do some research for our next vacation. I just HAVE to share this story with you all too....

About a year and a half ago I booked a cruise through Travelocity that stopped at several locations in Canada. My husband has relatives in Newfoundland and we wanted to take the children there to meet them. We selected a cruise that had Newfoundland as a port of call listed on the Travelocity website and booked it. We made numerous arrangements with other families members to meet us there (in Newfoundland) at the same time for a Family Reunion type vacation.

Weeks after the trip was booked, I was doing some research on another website regarding the cabin sizes and I noticed that the itinerary for our cruise on this site did NOT list Newfoundland as a port of call, but instead had Halifax. I was a little nervous and started checking other travel sites only to find out that the cruise we booked through Travelocity NEVER intended to stop in Newfoundland and it was an error on Travelocitys part.

To make a very long story short, after complaints and many letters and phone calls to Travelocity management we were refunded our money and given a credit toward our next trip. However, even after resloving the problem (which wasn't that easy) they still had Newfoundland listed as a Port of call on their website for 3 more weeks!!!!!! It wasn't until I contacted them again and the management personnel that I had been dealing with for weeks, that they corrected it.

Also, when I went to use my credit, I was to be given a personal agent to handle my reservation. Once we decided where we were now going, I emailed this agent to make our arrangemnets. This was the email I recieved back from him:

The credit Mr. XXXXX is offering in this email is for a future trip and is not valid on Cruises. This can be applied for air, car, hotel, or Last Minute deals.

If you have any questions please contact me.

Michael XXXXXXX

Can you believe that?!?!? Anyway, the manager I delt originally with was so apologetic at that point we got a double credit!

We did go on our cruise and had a great time, but I would NEVER trust Travelocity with a future trip because of my experience with them also.

I just felt this needed posted so that others can see it wasn't a one time thing. Always double check info on other sites to be safe. Errors can be made and are understandable, but how they deal with them once informed is what truely shows their quality of customer service!

Buyer Beware.
