Jeff, it's just a way to chat with each other -- you can look at people's photos and talk about them, or maybe something in their profile. On the tab "Journals" there are some discussion topics.
MB is much more user-friendly and provides more information and the opportunity to really "talk" with everyone. I don't expect that other site will ever come close to this! MB is home for a reason!
