Disney Mouse keeping is great about putting fresh towels and such on your door when they are asked not to come in and they call you and leave a message to let you know who they are and where to call if you should need anything during your stay.

Good to know my DH is not the only one.
We haven't stayed at a Disney Resort since 2000, and then he was not as paranoid so we just put our valuables in the safe, but since he has traveled a lot and of course stayed in many hotels . . . ah, but I digress.
Tipping is always a good practice and should be based on your level of service received, in my opinion.
