ACTUALLY, mail carrier is one of post office positions that is NOT salary. As far as tipping your mail carrier with money on holidays and other random times, you may want to reconsider. If he/she is caught accepting money, even as a gift, he/she will be fired. Small gifts, food, and things of the such are fine, but money can...and on several occasions HAS....costs jobs.
The best gift you can give your carrier is a bottle of cold water on a hot day or cup of hot coffee or cocoa on a cold one.
