I am sorry for the loss of your MIL..I agree this move is probably the best thing for you guys!
Have you thought about staying at an extended stay hotel for a a few weeks until you get settled down there? I did that for about a month when I moved (granted only an hour away) to a new town all by myself and I thought it was helpful. It was a little more expensive than I liked but I got to take my time and find somewhere to live.
