You know this letter is just bizarre. IT states that some "tapes" with personal information were lost, and some have been recovered but ours have not. It also states that they want to provide us with 24 months of credit protection. It goes as far as to list 3 or 4 different credit check agencies, etc. Ultimately they want you to give them your SSN in order to provide you with further coverage.
