Re: Wishy*s "Anyone smell a skunk?" Disneyland Dreams trip report!

OK, here we go...

Cast of characters:

Jessica aka: Wishy (age 29)
Daniel (DH, age 27)

* noteworthy mentions of one amazingly untimely skunk, some really AWESOME Disneyland Cast Members, a lady who almost ended up on the receiving side of my physical wrath of anger, many WONDERFUL Disney characters, 1 lovely Dream Team member, one National Geographic free lance photographer who asked to take my photo, and a Samoan who was TOTALLY impressed that I knew a Samoan celebrity.

If you think just the ABOVE is odd, keep readin' cause it only gets more off from here!

Saturday, June 21st: 3:15 am

I wake up groggy-eyed to the sound of my cell phone alarm playing "When You Wish Upon A Star" and realize "YAY, i's finally here, WE'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!" Daniel rolled out of bed too & I headed to the bathroom to get ready first.

Daniel's first instinct was to take the dogs out while I was getting ready. About 5 minutes later (yup, that would make it 3:20 am) I hear screaming outside, followed by my Scottish Terrier racing into the house, and shortly after smelling an EXTREMELY pungent odor following behind.

Daniel raced into the house SCREAMING, "OH MY GOD JESS, Emma just got sprayed by a SKUNK!"

"WHAT?", I ask, thinking I MUST be imagining this during some 3:20am post-dream nightmare. "JESSICA, EMMA GOT SPRAYED BY A SKUNK... HURRY!"

Sure enough, there is Emma making a weird motion with her mouth like she just swallowed something nasty, Cody our Boston Terrier hiding under the bed (something he loves to know when he knows trouble abounds), and the house is starting to REEK of nasty skunk.

My first instint was the throw her into the washroom sink and start scrubbing her. Daniel took the sprayer while I completely SOAKED her with tomato juice and vinegar. I have never had a run in with a skunk before but I could have SWORN I saw something on television about tomato sauce & vinegar.

It was now 3:30am and we MUST be out of the house at 4:15am to make it to the airport on time at 5am. After soaking poor Emma for about 10 minutes we dried her off & hoped the incident would have been diverted.

WRONG! It started to become evident that the smell had permiated into our clothes and especially our luggage that was waiting to go by the front door where the skunk so graciously decided it would be a good idea to spray my lovely baby at 3:15am.

In a MAD DASH (and I mean CRAZY, MAD, PANICKED 3:30 am dash) Daniel and I were FORCED to grab everything in our bags that remotely smelled of skunk and leave it behind, along with the actual bags themselves. THANK GOD I have similar sized luggage in a storage room & we LITERALLY had to grab any clothes out of the closet that we deemed appropriate for our trip. I had a few clean skirts left, some tees, extra underwear, and whatever else I could possibly grab.

It was now 3:50am and after making a mad dash to replace our luggage & it's stinky contents we had to scrub OURSELVES down real fast in the shower so not to offend any passengers sitting close to us on a 6 hour plane flight.

We went into that adrenaline rush & were able to get everything replaced, repacked, and ourselves scrubbed within 15 minutes. My Dad felt SO terrible about this incident he urged us to throw everything "skunky" into a garbage bag and he would take care of it for us so we could get out of the house ASAP.

Emma seemed to be fine after the bath & extreme scrubbing, thank goodness.

It was now 4:15 am and we were RATTLED to the core, high on crazed adreneline, and headed to the airport.
