Re: My proposal for a new Disney theme park (REPOST, for a Disneylander's POV)
New here! I have to question whether there is anywhere inland in the US that could draw enough locals to keep a new park open, and I doubt international travelers would make a special trip to the heartland to have an impact.
That said, if you want to think waay outside of the box, why not think Minnesota? They already draw foreign tourists to the Mall of America. I think it could be done.
A better idea, though, was the DisneyQuest concept. I don't think they gave the Chicago run enough advertising support. I lived in the midwest and never saw a single newpaper or tv ad it. Matter of fact, when my oldest was finally at the age where he would have enjoyed it I went looking for info and was surprised to find it had closed.
My understanding is that it was origianally supposed to be expanded, with Kansas City being a target for phase II. Along with what you get at WDW, they were going to include private party rooms.
Personally, I think a modified DisneyQuest...include Soarin' as the E ticket draw...would play in the midwest.
