Hi and welcome to Mousebuzz!!! I believe that you can order a card with a new or different design at any time. I don't think that they'll send out new cards when new designs are available. I just received my new card with the same design as I've had, because I didn't choose one of the others offered. I didn't want to change my design because the one I have is retired and I wouldn't be able to get it back.
