Icon9 Need Info Quick

My son just had ACL surgery on his knee so we are going to rent a wheel chair this weekend. How much are they a day? Any discount for muti day rentals? I saw something on All-ears about a new discount for muti day stroller rental? We are gong to Epcot and MGM....any ideas about what he will and won't be able to do. Unfortunately, I have already told him RnRRC is out!

Re: Need Info Quick

If he can transfer from wheelchair to the ride he should be able to do anything, including RNRRC. No multi day wheelchair rentals that I know of. Check with your resort, the resorts have a minimal number of wheelchairs for guests to use free of charge. You may want to rent one at home and take it with you or rent one from a health care agency in orlando. I understand that they will deliver it to your resort and pick it up for you at the end of your vacation. Sorry I can't be of more help. Maybe try the disabilities thread.

Re: Need Info Quick

The problem with RnRRC is he can't bend his knee enough to get in the car. We are flying down to Tampa and going over to Disney just for the weekend. Will be staying one night in Orlando and then going back to my son's in St. Petersburg.

Re: Need Info Quick

What about a local supermarket??? They do multi day rentals here in Colorado?? Maybe that would be more cost effective for you!!!

Leslie you might save more by getting a rental from one of these places
Walker Mobility:
1-888-726-6837
www.walkermobility.com

Care Medical:
http://www.caremedicalequipment.com/

RANDY'S Mobility is in Kissimmee 407-892-4777

they drop off and pick up. I have heard a lot of good things about Randy and Walker Mobility

one day rental at the parks for a standard w/c is $7.00 ...with a $1.00 deposit that you get back if you return the chair.

Re: Need Info Quick

I just looked on WDW web site and the push wheel chairs are just 7.00 a day. That is fine with me since DS Todd will be doing the pushing, not me!!

Re: Need Info Quick

Do the wheelchairs in Disney have leg supports that will raise up? He has to have his knee supported.

Re: Need Info Quick

That is another jolt of bad news. I don't think he can make it without knee support. Now what in the world are we going to do?

:( all I can suggest is one of the rental places. I do not remember the rental w/c having adjustable leg supports .. I know for sure the one I rented at MK did not ..because when ever we stopped I would find something to prop my foot up on

Re: Need Info Quick

Well, we rented wheelchairs at DW and Universal. My son said the Universal chairs were more comfortable. The Disney chair looked much older. They also had a bag on the back for storage which the DW chairs did not. Price was the same although the method of handling deposits were different. A dollar at DW and they kept you drivers lisence at Universal. When I got the dollar back they gave me a Disney Dollar and I had to take it somewhere else to exchange it because we weren't coming back the next day. Just a little aggravating. They were 8.00 dollars a day which was a dollar more than the web site had said.

Re: Need Info Quick

A co-worker of mine went to disney a few months ago and had to rent a wheelchair for a friend who had a broken leg. She was able to rent an electric wheelchair at the park and thinks she paid $30 for a one day rental. She thought is was a little pricey but the benefit of not having to push a wheelchair through a large crowd on a hot day justified it.
