Nebulizer

Hi everyone,

On our last trip (the first trip since our 3 year old DD was diagnosed with severe asthma) we brought along a portable nebulizer. We had to purchase it separately from the home nebulizer we have (which weighs about 15 pounds and is about the size of a cinderblock). Unfortunately, insurance did not cover the second nebulizer but we found one online for about $120 USD.

The model we bought had both and AC adapter and a car adapter as well as a battery pack for those times when one is not near a power source. This came in really handy for when we were in the parks and did not want to try and find someplace to plug in. The battery pack was also handy on the airplane, since the unit did not come with an airplane plug adapter.

Additionally the model we purchased came with all the universal plugs for overseas! (We are planning a trip to Thailand.... )

If anyone has any questions about the model we purchased and the online merchant, feel free to PM me!

Re: Nebulizer

That's SUPER nebulizer and should have come with a red cape. The one I had to buy for my DD when she was little was $200 and wasn't nearly as adaptable as that one. Fortuantely, she now only uses inhalers and that is not a regular thing anymore. Her severe asthma has gone to barely there asthmsa. I hope your child grows out of is like mine did. Excellent buy for that nebulizer!

Re: Nebulizer

I was grateful to find that one, since it saved on lugging the big one, which we would not be able to use on the plane because it only had the AC plug. The price on the nebulizer is now about $135 but that is still a good deal for what you get! I think all told, with the battery pack and AC and car adapters the unit weighs less than a pound!

I can hardly wait for the day when DD will be able to use inhalers, since they are easier to pack, but the portable nebulizer was truly a lifesaver!

I went through the same thing with my little brother and we had to get two too! By the way, how is the noise on the one you brought on the trip...that was the worst part for me...listening to that humming noise for ten minutes in the hotel room. DON'T worry...I hear ya!

This same thing happened with my youngest DS. He was on a nebulizer from the time he was 9 months till recently. His diagnosis wasnt' good when he was younger, but he has grown out of it.

Actually the portable one is quieter than the big one, it is still quite a hum, but we are used to it, since we give steroid nebs twice a day anyway. I also hope she grows out of it, although I am prepared for the fact that she may not because I didn't.
