Year round pass?

I was wondering if anyone knew, if you buy a year pass can you get the special needs pass for the whole year as well? Or do we have to wait in line everytime we go?

My son is 3 and has Autism so it is not as though it is going to go away like a broken leg. I really want to buy him a year pass but I don't want to have to wait in line everytime we go and say the same thing and show the same paperwork.

Thanks!
Cyndi

Re: Year round pass?

That might be one to call guest relations with, Cyndi. I don't see why they'd have a problem with giving you a year-long special needs pass under the circumstances, but I'd definitely call to be certain.

By the way -- welcome to DC!!!

Hi, Cyndi! Welcome to DisneyCentral.

I don't have the answer to your question but I understand your concern. That's a waste of your park time if you have to get the same pass every time.

Have you read the tips on this site?

Re: Year round pass?

I don't think you can get one for the whole year, but you can get one for your whole trip just tell them when you are going to be there til and they will date it.

Re: Year round pass?

I have a 3 year old w/ autism as well- what paperwork do I need to bring with me? Last year we just waited & took turns walking away with him. Do I need to bring formal reports from the neuro or just a docs note?

I may be wrong here but I don't think you need a note from your doctor. You just need to have your DS with you when you go to Guest Relations and explain what is going on with him. I think with all the HEPA laws they can't ask for a letter from your doctor.

Re: Year round pass?

My dad and my son have some issues that enabled them to obtain a GAC . The "Guest Assistance Card" can help in certain situations. My dad has had knee replacement surgery,a heart valve replaced and is an organ donor recipient. He should not wait in very crowded areas or extreme heat and sun due to medication or climb lots of stairs. The GAC allowed him to wait in cooler areas at attractions (if there was one) and special seating so he didn't have to take the stairs. My son suffers from anxiety and because he is young (9) I did have a note stating his situation, I thankfully never needed the GAC for him, he did great.
To obtain the card you need to find the Guest Relations in the first park you viist and the card will be good for your entire trip. Hope this helps.

Re: Year round pass?

The GAC is good for the duration of your trip and when you go, you do not need a Dr's note, in fact they don't look at them. that being said, if you do not want to state his needs in front of him (he must be present when you get the GAC) prepare a short note stating his needs and they will try to accomodate them.

If you are a frequent day visitor, like we are, they will give you a card that is good for 2 months at a time and you have to take it in and have it replaced when the expiration date comes around.

If there are any further questions, I will try to answer them when I get home from MJ's therapy.
