DD allergic to the sun!
 It appears as if Karlie (age 6) is allergic to the sun! She breaks out in a lacy hives-like rash all over her face,neck and chest, when she is in the sun, even with sunscreen and a hat on. At first I thought it was a reaction to the sunscreen but have ruled that out. What on earth can we do about this in disney! We are going in August, so she needs to dress in cool clothes, not cover up!! A hat or visor will help a little but she can't wait in the sun. Any suggestions??? |

Oh, no! This is going to be a tough one for her to deal with for the rest of her life.
Go to Guest Services and explain this to them and they will give her a GAC and then she can wait for rides out of the sun.

Call your pediatrician asap! Maybe there is something he can prescribe or suggest. This is quite a dilemma!

Oh gosh...I'm sorry to hear about this. I know it's not perfect, but would a linen or gauze(sp) shirt/blouse help. These fabrics breath pretty well. I hope someone here has some helpful information for you....

What is a GAC?
Also, you could try one of those golf umbrellas, or get a stroller with a big awning.

Oh no! Did a Doctor confirm that it is the sun? It may also have been a one time thing. I went to Las Vegas in May and broke into Hives all over my chest neck and arms. It was very weird. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before. They think it was the the heat and sun, and there was nothing they could really do about it. It went away a few days after I got home but boy was I misirable until then.
You might want to try sporting good stores for cloths. I know there are some really great light weight cloths that protect from the sun that runners use. I hope she gets better

Oh no! Karlie that is a tough one. Poor DD. DEfinately do as DT suggested and get the GAC card. You may need a note from her doctor to get that, so make an appointment and get that taken care of. It may also help to bring an umbrella. Get her one of those travel size ones that fold up pretty small. If she finds herself in the sun anywhere, you can take that out for her. There are some areas where the sun may be something you just can't avoid.

Contact Disney, if there is nothing they can do I would suggest a parasol (I think that is what they are called) the sun umbrellas.

Allergic to the sun!! Oh No!!!!!
Luckily only a minority of the rides have actual outside waiting queues..getting a FP for the ones that do can cut down waiting time...so that might help a bit! you know plus to GAC card, Umbrella and linen shirts!

Oh no! Poor Karlie! I would definitely get the GAC and I would talk to a dermatoligist and her pediatrician and see what they suggest.

You could try Guest Services, they issue the GAC at each park. I'm not sure how to get through to them before your trip.
