help with a resort
We are plannign a trip for the beginning of December. My husband is a recent amputee, who uses crutches and a chair to get around. He MIGHT have a prosthetic by the time we go. But he would probably still be getting use to it by the time we go.
Sooo.... I'm trying to figure out where to stay. We would like to go deluxe but that isn't an option (although we might do a few days, but definately not the whole week - unless anyone knows how to get that at moderate prices HEHE). Value rooms are too small for us as we are also traveling with our DD (almost 3). We need help picking a moderate. We had originally thought CSR. But everyone says it's too big. But now people are saying they are all too pick! HELP!!! Which resort is the best for someone with this kind of disability Maura |

Port Orleans French Quarter is pretty small compared to the rest of the mods. Everything seems to be pretty close together. Make sure when you book your room you tell the CM to note in your reservation that you need a room close to the food court and bus stop. You may also want to ask for a first floor room to make it easier on your husband.

Re: help with a resort
I agree with DisneyTeacher - POFQ would be a great choice. We stayed there last year and loved it. It only has one bus stop (right off the main lobby) and it is the first stop for the PO resorts so you won't have a problem with seating (we never did...). That being said, we were not dealing with crutches or a chair. But the resort is small and intimate and my girls (11 & 6) loved the pool
We are heading to CSR - which I love - but it is huge. Save that resort for next time - when DH is getting around better! ![]()

I would agree, POFQ sounds like the best fit. You will also need to mention you need a ground floor room, there are no elevators that I remember.
You may also want to consider the Wilderness Lodge, if possible. Kind of priced half way between a moderate and a deluxe.

Re: help with a resort
I would love AKL! But we have family traveling with us for part of the trip. And they don't want to do deluxe. That is why we are looking at the moderates.
Personnally I think we are going to split between AKL and a moderate. Maura |

My DH is in an electric w/c and a walker (for short distances) we had no problems having enough room at Pop Century for the w/c and our two teenage granddaughters.
Also if your husband is using an electric chair or EVC there are so many places in the parks you can charge them :) at any of the First Aide centers. My husband has charged his while we were eating at The CP

Re: help with a resort
Just to let you know there are elevators in POFQ, we had people in our group who needed them. We were also in bldg. 4 very close to busses and the food court.
I understand you wanting to try another resort, there are so many to choose from. The other moderates have quite large grounds and the problem with the values is that the rooms are smaller and space may be an issue for you guys being you will have some medical equipment. Good Luck. |

Mickey, we were just there in May for the first time at POFQ, and I scouted it out and yes there are elevators. Maybe not for every building but for some. Joe

Re: help with a resort
For some reason all the times I've gotten that message online, I called them and they always had something available. Maybe you could call, just in case?
