I have a son with mild asthma. I don't want to take his huge nebulizer machine with us, but hate to be without it, just in case. I hate to buy one of the small,portable ones, just for this trip. He only needs treatments whenever he gets sick, which is usually in the winter, so I can't really justify the cost of buying a portable one, because, we will more than likely not need it. My question is, has anyone rented a neb machine while at WDW? If so, how quickly did you get it? Who did you use? Do you need to bring your own mask and medicine?

Oh and the local pharmacy can actually sell you the mask for the portable nebs.. you would need an rx for the meds unless you can take some with you for the trip...

Thanks, Fire Angel!! That is great info to have. I can take his meds and even his mask and tubing with me, I just hate the thought of hauling the actual machine around. I don't think we will need it, but it is good to know if something did happen, I could get my hands on a neb machine. It would be good to avoid a trip to the ER during our vacation. I have pt's who buy a portable one just to have in their cars for emergencies or at their school's office... they are very inexpensive if you buy them directly from the company.. If you have insurance you can also try to get the portable nebs covered they usually allow a new machine purchase every 3 to five years.

Have you talked to your doctor? Maybe you can just get a script for a small one. DD had bronchiolitis one time and we "rented" a small nebulizer. When I went to return it, I was informed the insurance company purchased it so I got to keep it.

Yes that's what you would need for a portable neb... the ins will only purchase it not rent.
