The code red mickey head is the "official" MB paint chip that we bring to WDW so we can identify other Mousebuzzers.

Re: Autism + 2yo + WDW = HELP!!!

I really feel for you if your ds has autism. My ds now 3 had many meltdowns at WDW and somehow we managed. I brought things that would keep him occupied. Such as Bubbles, Crayons with Paper, I also brought plastic eggs (yes the ones that you get at easter time) I filled them with Candy such as M&M's, Goldfish, little rubber dinosaurs, Rubber army men etc. Small squirt guns work well. They were just little surprises for him whenever it seemed like he needed a distraction. They worked like a charm. My ds also hated the fireworks at 2 years old and 18 months. He was so scared. I hope these little tricks help to make your trip a very memorable one. Good luck and prayers to you and your dfamily.

The easter eggs are a really good idea. I bought several small pill boxes and filled them with pez and other little candies. I figured this would occupy him for a while since he would need open each compartment in order to get the candy out. I'm also going to go to the dollar tree and get a few small coin purses and put random objects that we usually dont allow him to play with at home like paperclips and rubber bands. I was amazed once at how stinging floss through a paperclip amazed him for quite some time.

It's amazing how kids love things like paperclips, keys, and rubber bands work to keep kids occupied. I hope you have a lovely trip.

Re: Autism + 2yo + WDW = HELP!!!

The following peoplew have Asperger's Autism:

Isaac Asimov
Albert Einstein
Bobby Fischer
Bill Gates
Glenn Gould
Edward Gorey
Alfred Hitchcock
Thomas Jefferson
H.P. Lovecraft
Isaac Newton
Nikola Tesla
Andy Warhol

Would you call them a handicap?

Can we call it a special kids pass? Would any of us who has a child blessed with Autism call that child handicaped????????????

DEFINITELY not a "handicap" pass, you are so right. I hope my DS grows up to be as successful as those on the list above!

Kim,

Thank you for your support!!

Unless you have experienced the blessing of Autism first hand, you don't understand.
