Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities

You can get a Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities at guest relations at all the parks, they describe each attraction briefly with symbols to indicate what you need to do for access :)

Thanks Lisa, Do you know exactly what they will consider a disability. My Dad has heart problems and my Mom had cancer and tires very easily. I think she will need a wheelchair especially at Epcot.

they actually give you the guidebook now if you rent a wheelchair or evc. My mom actually had one waiting in her evc every morning when we rented one

Can I just say I got more help from the rides themselves than from the book?

LRTJS - both your parents would qualify, according to the woman at Guest Services. Actually, I got the feeling that *anyone* needing assistance would be helped. I got some really negative feedback when I applied for my GAP, but once in the parks, everyone was tremendously wonderful. I was ambulatory for most of the trip, too, but if I was having trouble, there was no questions asked, they helped with a smile on their face (I'm recovering from a broken ankle)

As far as renting the ECV, they didn't even question me as to why I needed it. I think in my case, I was definately worrying about it a lot more than I needed to.

pirates elevator

found another nice piece of info on a ride POC has a steep moving walkway when you get off, but there is also an elevator. ask about using it before you get on and they will relay a message to the unload point. from what I read most the time you dont have to ask ..if you are there in an EVC they will transfer you to a manual and you will use the elevator at the excit

Re: Guidebook for Guests with Disabilities

Cool, Thanks for posting the information. I will likely submit something to the writers of the Passporter. I have had a lot of experiences, both in WDW and DLR.

That's a good idea. I am sure they are in need of anything people have experienced first hand.
