wheelchairs at resorts??
Does anyone know if they have wheelchairs at the resorts that you can use while you are at disney. Someone told me that they are free to use, if available, and that you can use them for the length of your stay. Do you need to reserve them in advance or is it first come first serve? and are they really free? My DD has a chronic illness and may need a wheelchair, but we don't have one to bring with us. Last year someone lent us one, but it's not available this year. The walking was just to much for her, as well as the standing in lines in the August sun.

Where are you staying? You should call your resort, assuming that you're onsite. I'm sure that they'll help you figure something out. Most, if not all of the Disney buses are WC accessible and the drivers all seem to be trained on how to load them easily. The brand new buses don't even need a lifter that the older buses have. They "kneel" and you can roll right in the front door. In any case, I'm sure that you can make arrangements through your resort.

Check here for info: http://allearsnet.com/pl/mobility.htm I guess you have to rent and it's first-come first-serve and it's only in the parks. If your daughter needs a chair for the entire trip (i.e. at resorts and what-not) you should probably consider finding a company in Orlando that can rent you a chair for the week.

POR does let you use a wheelchair. They didn't charge us. I think there is a small deposit. They warn you about taking them to the parks. You can but don't lose it.
You should probably let them know to put it on your reservation. That way you are sure to get one. If you need a refrigerator for medicine they don't charge for it either.

Re: wheelchairs at resorts??
WDW did do a test last year about a "length of stay" rental of wheelchairs and strollers. I would suggest you contact one of the local rental places for a wheelchair before depending on there being one you can use at the resort.
check this thread for info on places that rent wheelchairs http://www.disneycentral.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=5116
