I dont understand why you had to leave CP? and yes I do believe they need to make a profit from this too. the maintance, the cost of replacing batteries. I feel its unreasonable to expect Disney not to make a profit. I dont think the charge is really unreasonable myself.. and there are other options like renting them from local places. From what I understand you can save by renting them.

I agree that the rental charge Disney imposes is also a necessary means to limit abuse.

Re: Special Assistance Pass
We went to WDW this past October. This was my daughters 1st time & she is autistic. I requested a SAP & did not have any trouble at all. I took documentation from our family doctor & from my her school in case they would need it. I retreived ours from DAK & the woman was very friendly & understanding. Although, At times when we needed to use it, I felt like I was annoying cast members but I didn't let that get to us. In the end, I am so thankful that we were able to use the pass because it made our trip much more pleasant not only for us, but mainly for my daughter. She asked me if we could go back to that place that made her so happy......we will be there this August.

No, I'm sorry I wasn't clear. We went to MK and tried to get a scooter for my Mom to use but they were out of them, they said to try back later. So we went and waited in line at CP for lunch. We had PS but there was still about a 25 minute or so wait and the seats outside were full so we stood in line. When we left CP, and tried again to get a scooter, but they were still out. (They were also out of wheelchairs.) It was a Saturday and they were just really busy. We walked around a bit, but my Mom was really not comfortable - she has degenerative disc disease with a lot of sciatic nerve damage. She only has about 60-75% feeling left in both legs (one is better than the other from what she tells me.) She's had this since 1983, the doctor wanted her in a wheelchair fulltime but she steadfastly refused and I'm glad she did. Anyway . . . my mom just wasn't up to doing a lot of walking that day, she was just really uncomfortable. So we left MK without seeing very much and that was our last day there. We didn't even think to look into renting something like for her beforehand, because this was during our first trip and she was there attending a conference (NADE) at CSR for her job. She had no clue she'd even have TIME to go to the parks! We had just moved into a new home before our trip and so she was a bit sore from that, and then sleeping in a hotel bed different from her own flared her up a bit worse. (She uses a waterbed at home.) So I am sure all these things factored into her discomfort issues that day. She is very strong and can handle a LOT and never ever complains about a thing, so I think she really was in pain that day. I can see it in her face in our pics from the lunch at CP (which we LOVED, btw.) Now when we go, she makes sure to rest up a lot beforehand and things. She's been OK our last 2 trips. :) She would love it though if we could find a hotel to stay at that had waterbeds that wasn't nasty, LOL! ![]() Anyway, hope I made it more clear now even though I was so wordy, sorry for the misunderstanding. And yes, they should definitely make it difficult so people can't abuse the use of scooter and chairs, and I suppose expense is one way, but maybe requiring a dr.'s note or something is another? I really don't have all the answers, just opinions, hee hee. Oh, but if you folks are going to talk about my "leopard spots" because I have a different opinion from you, then you can do it in front of my face. Thanks.
