Disney Stores Being Sold

Well the rumors are true, according to my reliable sources the Disney Stores are going to be sold some time during the first quarter of 2005 to Children's Place. The manager's got the e-mails last week and it hasn't gone beyond that so far. It is uncertain on what effect that will have on CM's or customers but it should be a smooth transition for all. More updates when I get more info.

I do not know what I would do if they closed the last Disney Store in my area. I already have to drive an hour and a half to get to a Disney Store. My kids and I love to go shopping there. We love Disney!

Thanks for the info... We're planning our next trip and wonder if we should go ahead and purchase our annual passes before the Disney Store changes hands. What do y'all think?

I think it would be a good thing, as long as they remain with a Disney theme. It would keep them open (Disney was going to close them all), and - better clothes. A long time ago the Disney Stores used to sell adorable Disney clothes, but before long they only became available in the catalog or in the parks, as the Disney Stores only has costume-y and souvenier-y stuff now. I buy all of our Disney clothes at the Disney Clothiers now. I'd love to buy Disney clothes made by The Children's Place!

(As long as I still get my discount, of course!) LOL

I just hope they keep the stores open. My DD (and I) love to shop at our local Disney store. They have already closed two stores in our location. I pray they don't close this last one.

I hope they still remain "The Disney Store". I'm assuming I will no longer get a DVC discount, though. Hopefully they will start selling watches, artwork, jewelry, and more adult clothes. Also, better quality snowglobes and toys (like they used to sell!)

Well I really hate that they are closing them. I do hope that they do a better job than what Disney did this last time... But I like the others wonder about the CM's... They will loose a lot of Disney Benifits if they are not Disney CM's.... I would hate that for them. I have become first name basis with the Store in Jacksonville.... They have known me for quite some time now, to the point that when I go in they hug me.... I will miss that...ºoºJudy

I hope that the store employees will still be CM's,but I doubt they will unless the Disney name will still be associated with the stores like The Disney Store by Children's Place.

Ours are still open and they're even hiring. There was a sign up the last time I was in. I'm hoping they've just forgotten about us...

I have a copy of the letter from the CEO of Children's Place now and it is more of a "Invite to Children's Place". The one tidbit I did find out was the CM'S discount in the store will go down to 30% and they aren't sure yet if they will still get their 2 passes 2 times a year or not. It does also say that it will just be the North American stores in the letter that will be bought. Some other info in the letter says CM's will reatin their current title, current salary and work location.
