The Lion King on Broadway

Who wants to or has seen The Lion King on Broadway. From what I have heard it is a pretty amazing show. I have just realized that I really would like to go to New York and see this. I checked out about tickets and see the best tickets are $100.00 a piece, but it doesn't tell you where you will sit. Anybody know anything about this.

Re: The Lion King on Broadway

I will get you some info later tonight.

Are you a student? If you are you can get student discount (you will need a picture ID). There are ways to get tickets cheaper.

Re: The Lion King on Broadway

I saw the show a few years ago on Broadway. What a FANTASTIC show. I have not seen anything like it. It just blew me away. I have to say that I don't remember anything about the pricing in association with the seats, but I sat up in a balcony & my seats were fantastic. I don't know what the best seats would be, but I had no complaints. Let me also do some research for you. In the meantime, I would put it on my lists of definites.

Re: The Lion King on Broadway

I had the pleasure of seeing it in 2003. It was fabulous! We sat in the balcony and thoroughly enjoyed it; however, if I were to go see it again I would definitely get seats on the floor. There are two reasons for this:
1. The balcony was full of school groups that never shut up; and
2. More importantly, the show comes out onto the floor of the theatre. I felt that by sitting in the balcony we missed some of this...

We saw the Lion Ling when it was in Chicago. It was fantastic. It was very moving. You may want to try the weekday mantinee. Here it was on Wednesday. It was a little less expensive then the weekend days.

Re: The Lion King on Broadway

Ok here are a few links that might help you find better prices for tickets:

http://www.applause-tickets.com/newyork/index.asp
http://www.talkinbroadway.com/boards/rush.html
http://www.nytix.com/Broadway/
http://home.nyc.rr.com/frugaltheatergoe/
http://www.broadwaybox.com/

You might want to see if there is a matinee, sometimes those prices are lower.

If you do end up going and want some help planning PM me and I'll see what I can do (my advice on visiting NYC is have a good plan or you will get eaten up by the city).

Best of luck.

Re: The Lion King on Broadway

If you go to www.ticketmaster.com, you can click on the theater for any show, and you can see the seating chart... I remember that once, one of the seating options we had for Lion King mentioned that there my be an obstructed view from the seats we were being offered... I took a pass because it was a lot of money for seats that might have some obstruction!
That said, we have zillions of neighbors who have gone multiple times and they say it is the best show ever.

Re: The Lion King on Broadway

Wow, thanks everybody, now I just have to figure out when to go. We are going to WDW in Feb so that is a major financial strain. When is the best time to go to New York? If we went, it would be a weekend. We would definately like to see the Statue of Liberty also. Would it be better to wait 'till after all the holidays or try to get there before Dec?

Re: The Lion King on Broadway

Rob,

If you want to see the Statue of Liberty I wouldn't come in the winter...cold boat trip. All so you might want to go up to the observation deck on the empire state building...the last time I went up the ground temp was 89 the deck was around 70 and breezy (can't imagine it in Dec).

The best time I think would be early summer (May/June) or early fall (Sept/Oct). Make sure to check to see if what you want to see on broadway is showing the weekend you come too.

If you need any help planning let me know.
