Icon5 Post Disney Depression

Another thread brought up Dana's title (Post Disney Depression Therapist), and I thought I'd throw out how I deal with Disney withdraw...

1) I spend weeks after our vacation editing hours of video tape into watchable video

2) I scrapbook photos (and I take hundreds of photos).

Doing this allows me to re-live each moment of the trip over-and-over again. By the time I get done, I actually need a break from the magic.

So does anyone else have any post Disney therapy?

Re: Post Disney Depression

Well as you can see from my WAY to many posts, I post here to talk about WDW and the trips and the planning etc when I am feeling the PDD creep in. My true PDD therapy is planning, planning and more planning. As soon as this trip is over, I will take a week off and start planning again. Each year it gets worse. My addictions to WDW trips is getting pretty hairy actually. I used to wait a year and a half to two years between trips and now have myself set on a pattern for a trip each year..lol I already know when I am going next and haven't even "done" this next trip yet.. I can think of worse things I could be doing with my time..lol

Re: Post Disney Depression

We're planning on bringing back the Disney magic with us as we enter Christmas season at home, and then on making our lives more Disneyesque by decluttering and making our home more the kind of place we want to be; after the holidays, we're also going to be focusing on relocating to San Francisco. So we have ample things to look forward to between our return and the next Disney trip.

PS: Once we move and get more high-speed net than we have, I think we'll check out Radio Buena Vista too! Thanks!

Re: Post Disney Depression

Well...

My family isn't as hardcore about Disney as I am. I can't deal with PDD by planning...cause they're not so hot about going back so soon as I am.

BUT anyway...after working and living at WDW for four months, you can imagine the PDD. I usually look through my scrap-book, filled with a happiness theme (hey, its not always the happiest place on earth with crummy roomates.) I listen to music, namely a mix I made that has the music from Spectromagic, Spotlight on a Dream and Fantasy in the Sky, it totally takes me back. Or I sift through my box of Disney stuff, odds and ends like the CM lanyard or glittery mouse ears headband, or maps of the parks.

Coming here helps alot too. :)

Re: Post Disney Depression

I can't believe it. I pulled out my WDW video that I shot in 2001. I figured I'd show it to the kids before we go.

The tape had been erased. There wasn't any footage left on it!

Man-oh-live! how did that happen...that is a real tragedy. Was it erased or taped over?

Re: Post Disney Depression

It looks erased. I wonder if it got near a magnet, because it doesn't even have the appearance of ever having been taped (no wavy lines).

I'll survive to film more of WDW. Although, I have to admit, I enjoy WDW better when I'm not trying to record every moment.

Re: Post Disney Depression

What type of magnets do you have laying around the house??

If they are powerful enough to erase a VHS can't imagine what would happen next to your PC...

(had a user once that put refrigerator magnets on the side of there PC to hold paper notes...they always had the weird stuff happening in their computer )

I lookm at the countless books I have. I look thorough my wifes heap of scrapbooks documenting our trips. I download music from rides or video from rides and watch and listen until the tears are washed away with laughter.
