Sequels

Many of their sequels are pointless.

The Return of Jafar, is very boring, and they could of made it much better. Cinderella II, is completely pointless, and has nothing good in it. Belle's Magical World is another movie I can't stand. Lion King 1 1/2 has a few good jokes, but is otherwise stupid.

Hunchback of Notre Dame sequel is probably the worst. They completely wrecked it.

Return to Neverland and Jungle Book II, I don't even know why they bothered making those.

Little Mermaid II, and Pocahontas II - I have mixed feelings on these. I felt that Pocahontas had needed a sequel, but thought that most of it was poorly done. The begining was good, but after she went to London, it was stupid. Mermaid didn't need a sequel, but had a good story line, but they ended up wasting it.

Lady and the Tramp II is cute, but pretty pointless.

I do however like Simba's Pride, and Aladdin and the King of Thieves.

And now they're making Bambi and Brother Bear sequels that are not needed.

Bambi, I feel is to old for a sequel, and they're going to have to change all the voices, which I don't like when they do that. The same thing happened when they made the new Cinderella movie

Brother Bear has no need for a sequel.

I do want to see Mulan II, since I think it looks all right, but knowing Disney, they've screwed it up somehow. And there was no need for a sequel in the first place.

What's next? Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Hercules, (even though they had that lame tv show,) Pinnochio?

They're completely destroying classics, and giving the newer movies dumb endings. They should just let them go.

And after all this, they're going to come up with dumb sequels to the already dumb movies. And then they'll make trilogies of everything just to make more money.

Re: Sequels

I think they are obviously trying to cash in on an almost guaranteed audience. Although I have to admit Toy Story 2 was great!! But there are definitely some they should leave alone.

Re: Sequels

Gee, Disneyfan, tell us how you really feel.

But I agree with you. Disney is doing sequels entirely for $$, not for art & creativity. And if they'd just make some decent feature films, they wouldn't need to be turning back to the classics for revenue.

I didn't even bother with Home on the Range. The Chicken Little film looks terrible. Pooh's Hephelump Movie is the worst 100 Acre Woods film to date (And the Piglet Movie was pretty bad.).

*** Warning****I am going to take you to task here.

Home on the Range was cute. Pooh's Heffalump Movie was adorable, my boys loved it. And The Piglet movie was so sweet. THe sound tracks were great for all three of these films. And they were definitely child friendly and safe to bring children to. Now, I don't know about Chicken Little, but I can say I don't like Ben Stiller, so I am already not to keen on the idea. There is no such thing as a bad 100 Acre Woods film. Can't happen.

I completely disagree. The Tigger Movie was wonderful, but Piglet and Heggalump were boring. I know Pooh films target toddlers (that's why we went), but like the sequels we're taking to task, the other films are banking on the characters, not the story line.

I didn't see Home on the Range. The previews and premise kept us away.

Re: Sequels

We had no preconceived notions about Home on the Range, maybe that's why we didn't mind it. We are really big Pooh fans, so we didn't mind them at all. Although, I have to say, any of the Disney movies of Pooh characters are banking on the characters, since Pooh is not a disney character at all, but AA Milne.

Re: Sequels

Home on the Range was allright...I liked it more than I expected to...and the music is FABULOUS!! Just MHO. I don't even own the DVD, but I own the soundtrack and listen to it a lot.

Frankly, I don't bother watching any of the sequels. I think I have only seen a couple...parts of Cinderella II, parts of Lion King 1-1/2, and all of the Beauty & the Beast sequels. (*shudders* ) I just don't like them, so I don't watch them unless I'm baby-sitting and I have to. Simple as that!

I've never watched any of the Pooh movies, because I'm so partial to the classic Pooh episodes from the old Disney Channel. Nothing else cuts it for me.

BTW...admittedly, I like Return of Jafar.

Sorry you don't like any of the sequels Disneyfav!!

Re: Sequels

eh... I have mixed feelings about sequels. Some of them I thought were ok. I liked "Return to Neverland" for the most part, and one of the Aladdin ones, I can't remember which. But some of them are obviously pushed out way too fast - even the commercials for them look cheap. Basically, I don't like the idea of making sequels just to make a movie to sell. But that's business, I guess.

Re: Sequels

I do like Toy Story 2, I don't know why I left that out before, but that is by far my favorite sequel.

Home on the Range, I haven't seen, nor do I want to see. I also haven't seen Treasure Planet, and I don't want to see Chicken Little.

Emperor's New Grove, Atlantis, and Lilo and Stich, are also pretty poorly done. I think Stitch is cute, but became bored with the movie, and the other two movies had no memorable characters whatsoever.

As far as the Pooh movies go, I haven't seen the heffalump movie, or Piglet's. I did see the Tigger movie, but that was a few years ago, I do remember thinking it was cute.

It's not that I don't enjoy movies, but the sequels are pretty horrible, and just don't compare to the originals. I'm just glad that when I was younger I did have the better movies to grow up with. The first movie I ever saw in theaters was The Little Mermaid, which I think was the begining of a great run for Disney, since it was followed by Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Pocahontas. Then Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, and Brother Bear, which I also enjoyed all of them. But they've made sequels to all of them except Brother Bear, which I know they have planned for next year, and Hercules doesn't have an actual sequel, but they did have that lame tv show.
