not to happy with disney catalog

i pre-ordered "bambi" and "the incredibles" last month. i didn't receive my copy of "bambi" until two weeks after it was released!! i got an email days before the release saying it was shipped. two weeks later, i called them up to tell them i didn't get the movie. they shipped me a free copy with DHL. about the first copy, it was sent 4th class!! i told them i'm used to when i pre-order a movie, it arrives either the day before or the day of the release. this past weekend, i bought a copy of "the incredibles" because i still haven't received it. now, both copies are waiting at the post office for me to pick up,after i get my final notice today!! uh, next time i pre-order a movie from the catalog, i'm going to pay the extra money to have it shipped to me overnight or express or whatever's available just so i can get it either the day before or the day of the release.

has anyone ever experienced a problem like this before with the catalog?

Re: not to happy with disney catalog

Why pre-order? A trip to Walmart on the week of release will get you the DVD cheaper than any other place (around $15). The only benefit of pre-ordering is if you must have the lithographs.

Re: not to happy with disney catalog

I was wondering the same thing......In the Wal-Mart where I live they usually stock them at 12 a.m. the morning of the release....and you dont have to pay for shipping

Re: not to happy with disney catalog

i like getting the lithographs. i feel like i own a work of art from disney. also, i have school on tuesdays so i can't run to the store in the morning or during the day to get my copy. my week is usually occupied with homework and all that good stuff so by the time it's the weekend, i'm usually tuckered out. i like the movie to come to my house so i don't have to rush to the store to get it. that's just my thing.

Re: not to happy with disney catalog

Tragic, I understand why you'd be upset. In my understanding, "pre-ordered" movies/CDs are ALWAYS supposed to arrive on the day of release, or within 1 to 2 days at most. I don't really see the point of pre-ordering otherwise; when I pre-order something, it's only because I don't think I'll have the time to go out and get it but I want it right when it comes out.

I'd be frustrated too.

Re: not to happy with disney catalog

We only preorder when the lithographs are ones that I know my kids would love to have in their rooms. I would be upset though if we preordererd a movie and it didn't get here for 2 weeks after the release. Sorry you had such a problem. I guess we've been lucky because we have always gotten ours quickly when we've preordered.

Re: not to happy with disney catalog

I dont order DVD's from them since I ordered Beauty and the Beast and had the same problem you did Tragic . When I also received it I saw that it was from Buena vista productions Coral springs Florida right down the street from my house I could have driven over there and picked it up faster then they mailed it . I now go to Walmart and pick the copies up

We pre-ordered the Incredibles and received it on the day of release. I just had to have the beanies and pin along with the lithographs.

Re: not to happy with disney catalog

Every store has their own "extras" when selling a dvd to get you to buy it from them and no one else...I think Circuit City has this sports ball when you buy the incredibles.

Yup. And somebody did have a free lithograph. I wanna say Best Buy, but I'm not sure. They rotate the freebies - sometimes it's a litho, stuffed character, free 2 liter, etc. I sort through the ads on Sunday and pick my store. Best Buy and Circuit City aren't on my route home, but I don't mind adding the few extra minutes.

Re: not to happy with disney catalog

well, i finally got my copies of "bambi" and "the incredibles." i must say that it wasn't disney direct's fault for the delay of me getting my movies; it's the post office's fault. i got a notice the other day about the movies being at the post office and it was a final notice!! it was my first notice but it was marked final notice. so, i went today to get my movies and the boxes were marked 3/15, 3/20, and 3/25. i'm so upset with the post office that they delayed me getting my movies. ooh!! i need to complain to them right away.
