Re: NYT Travel on Disney
I must confess that during our Feb. 2007 trip, we felt the magic slipping also. However, we have been there often enough to realize that it seldom happens. We still go and actually have three trips booked.

But at the WDW only real evidence were some extra leaves, etc. on the ground, most of the fountains were still off until they cleared all the debris, and AK was closed an extra day or so to ensure all fencing was intact. I met a local resident in the laundry room very grateful to have been evacuated to WDW because they could provide guaranteed electricity for her husband's medical equipment. I made a point to tip heavily, to ask about CM's home situations and families and to say an extra thank-you. How many of us would have been at work the day after our roof blew off, like our bus driver? Mistakes happen! But they serve many thousands each day and most of us leave smiling. I'll be back as long as and as often as I can afford it.

Re: NYT Travel on Disney
This artical was a bit difficult to follow... the author contradicts himself.
So... Disney has made some mistakes. We get frustrated when a ride breaks down or we get put in a room with one king bed instead of two queens. But go to any other theme park after visiting WDW. They just don't compare. As for the ride deaths, none of those were mechanical error. Ride restrictions and warnings are placed all over the building and play frequently on recordings. It's been a while (probably shouldn't resurface the matter), but that four-year-old boy had no business going on Mission: Space, and it was the fault of the parents. But, through all of the bad reviews and boycotts (Southern Baptists... heh), people continue to travel to Disney. Why? Well, it could be the magic, or the adventure. Maybe the kids are dragging the parents back. Who knows? Whatever the reason, Disney continues to create magical memories for every park guest (and bring in the $$$$).
