Extremem Makeover Home Edition

This is one of DD and DS's favorite shows. Today is a Jewish holiday, so I am home. I have been so busy that I just got around to reading Sunday's paper early this morning. There is an article about a family in Medfield, MA (two towns over) who were just surprised by the Design Team on Saturday and were wisked away to a spa in Arizona while Extreme Makeover took over their house for the week. DD comes downstairs at about 7:30am while I am on the computer and I show her the article. She is kind of tired, so I ask her if she knows where Medfield is. Nope. I tell her it's on the other side of Walpole and her whole face lights up "Can we go see Ty?" I am one step ahead, and am already on WhitePages.com looking for the David Johnson family in Medfield. We find two possible addresses, and I tell her to hop in the shower and get dressed for services. Figuring it will be better to go early on a week-day than later, we will have to go stright to services at 10:00am.

We run upstairs and wake up DS, who is not a morning person, but jumps out of bed at the thought of possibly seeing Ty. DH thought we were crazy, and rolled over and went back to sleep.

We get dressed, and I warn them that we may have the wrong addresses and we will probably not get to see anyone from the design team. We leave about 8:00am and make Dunkin Donuts our first stop for my coffee (a must) and muffins for the kids, then we set off on our adventure.

First address, no luck. Second address we can't get through because the road is closed. We get as close as we can and see a policeman guarding the road (a good sign). We get out and he asks us if we are here as spectators (another good sign). He tells me to move the car to a different spot so trucks can get around the corner, and we grab the camera and head up the road. Wow! I have never seen a construction site like that. The place was absolutely crawling with workers. Kids wre disappointed that they never got to see Ty, because all spectators were kept behind a fence (for safety reasons), but it was a really exciting thing to do. I'll see if I can post a picture.

Yes, it was very cool! The kids LOVE that show, and it was so great that they got a chance to see it. They want to go back Saturday when the family comes home. I told them they will have to talk their Dad into that - it's going to be so crowded!

I love Extreme Makeover Home Edition! They recently did a home here in Utah (in fact, the episode airs on Sunday) and I was going to go to the unveiling of the house when the family comes home. But I was leaving for vacation the next day, so I was too busy. But that's really cool that you got to go to the site. It's such a great show!

Oh wow. I wanted to go so bad when they were up here in Washington but never made it. It rained the whole time anyway. But they had a lot of coverage on the news so i got to see a lot of it on tv. So that was cool too.

Well today is the family's homecoming. DD and DS wanted to go in the worst way, but I had told them it was up to their Dad. I hate crowds. Anyway, we got up early (before DH) and it has been raining so practices were canceled. They asked about going, and I explained again it was up to their Dad, but we had no idea what time the family was coming home, so going would mean leaving the house early and maybe standing outside in the rain all day. They changed their minds and didn't even ask their Dad to take them.
