Re: Characters?
I am just bumping this up to the top for you. I have no idea about this at all.

Sorry this is very confusing to me. I'm a "character" (put it in quotes because everyone knows the characters are real) and I'm not a manager. I trained, completed all of my training, and am working it out in the parks all day long, but I'm not a manager.

Hmm, none of the managers that I know have mentioned anything like that....

Re: Characters?
Though it's not a bad idea. It would ensure managers know what it is they are managing.
Lil' and I strongly feel that every Fostercare Caseworker should be required to be a foster parent for a year, before they are given a full case load. It's humorous how childless, 20-something, fresh-out-of-college green horns come into our home and act like they know everything there is to know about raising kids and being a foster parent. So the same could apply to any job, especially customer relations at WDW.

Re: Characters?
Cavey I agree wholeheartedly! I also think it should be a requirement to work in a minimum wage, food service or something like it job for at least a year at one point in your life. Just so when the line is long at mcdonalds before you go screaming at the poor employees you know from expernce how stressful it can be for them when they're out of lettuce and understaffed and underpaid and busy! *phew* sorry to rant...can you tell I just got home from a long BUSY stressful day at Burger King (where we ran out of fries, onion rings, lettuce, tomatoes, and whopper meat! errg)

Re: Characters?
OK I think I'm starting to understand the question asked. I think you're asking if a manager in training is required to be in entertainment as a performer as part of training. If that's the question here's my answer: no, unless you're working to be an entertainment manager. Remember, there are literally thousands of jobs and hundreds of work locations for the entire WDW resort. If you were to become a custodial manager, why would you need to take a course in how we do things in entertainment? No, I don't believe that applies for anyone except in entertainment, and even then that person training to be a manager should have been in entertainment all along. Though it's not a bad idea, so that way fellow castmembers would see that we do have a job, we don't sit around waiting for our set, and we go to the extreme for guests like any other cast member would?

You can bet those in management didn't just get assigned the job. We ALL work $@*! jobs at one time or another. <soap box mode on> I have NO tollerance for rude behavior. (I've worked vending and food service as volunteer at games and concerts.) I've seen it from both sides, and standing on the customer side of the counter, I see some REALLY poor excuses for employees around here. (I saw a fast food manager bitch at a custome who came back into the store to get her order corrected. I said something RUDE to the manager and I would have fired her on the spot. No wonder the counter help there acted like we paying customers were a bother.) We have way too many people that think life OWES them something. Entry level jobs should be just that ENTRY LEVEL. It should be modivation to get a good education or job skills and better your life! Life is what YOU make it for the most part. Unfortunately, many would rather complain than do anything about it. Which actually make it EASY for the rest of us. It only takes slightly more effort to be a shing star in what ever you do because most people are looking to do the bare minium to keep their job. <soap box mode off>That's why people like you will do well in life no matter where you end up.

Re: Characters?
I do know for a fact all top level management had to put in their time as a "character" and I was asking if they still had to or not. Isn't it something to think of Eisner going around as Goofy lol.

Re: Characters?
Managers are required to do the job of the CM under their management one day a month, or is it every 6 months? Anyways, its only the dpt that they are managing.
