Disney Turns on '100 Years ' Blitz

In today’s Orlando Sentinel, there was an article about Disney World was ready to crank up the multimillion-dollar campaign it started back in October. (100 Years of Magic)

Disney World still went forward with the 100 years, but pulled most of its advertising just as the event was starting. Advertising industry figures estimate the total cost of all 100 Years promotions at $250 million.

Here is the full article:

Yah!

Funny, I read another article today that explained that all of the CRO (reservations) people were having to work a lot overtime. They have hired a bunch of new people, but it takes time to train them. It appears that thing may be rebounding at WDW. Now, when is Pop Century opening up?

Thanks for the article -- it was very interesting! As a marketing professional, I would like to say I think that Disney is missing a big opportunity to gain a bigger piece of the vacation pie!

I have to say, this year, 12 of us will be going to WDW and it is because we WILL NOT FLY. And, that is the only reason our vacation is at WDW this year! There is something for everyone in our family and we can drive there. After the events of 9/11, I wonder how many other families are like mine out there??? Why doesn't Disney pay more attention to us?

They could do stuff like offer an East Coast discount -- or make arrangements for a train/disney vacation. Or what about put together some bus tours to disney. Luxury bus ride with disney films for the kids. Or put together a "Road Rules package" -- "call us and we'll get you a rental car, so you don't have to drive your own, tickets, hotel accommodations and custom driving directions along with nintendo and disney videos in the car and a package of travel games for the kids!"

Does anyone else feel this way??
