Stolen Credit Card by WDW Emp Update
Last fall I reported my CC numbers stolen by a WDW reservations employee. To make a long story short. Theives caught, sentenced, and jailed. I count myself extremely lucky because they could have done alot more damage.
I talked to my CC company first, since they reported the problem first, made out a police report, hired a lawyer (with the help of some friends), and notified Disney of my problem and to ask them to cooperate with the police investigation. I did things in this order and kept a tight reign on the lawyer since he represented my interests. I worked with the police because I felt WDW would not be willing to do anything unless it could be doned discretely and with minimal damage to their rep while the local police were concerned about getting the crooks behind bars. I was right. Within two months, the thief and his cohorts in crime were caught, sentenced, and jailed. The lawyer I hired wanted to go after WDW but I told him no for several reasons but mostly because I could not see where WDW could be held reasonably responsible for what happen. You can never be absolutely sure of who you hire or what they will do and knowing Floridas rep for CC theft, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Two weeks after reporting the incident to WDW reservations, I recieved one or two calls a day for the next eight days from reservation supervisors and only two calls from WDW internal security. I made sure to log the names dates and times of the calls for my own protection, but I was surprised they were so slow in getting WDW security involved.

Good work! Thanks for keeping us informed, too.
Did Disney do anything to compensate you for your time and aggravation? Personally, I would be horrified if I were the employer, and would do anything to make the customer happy again.

No compensation was offered by Disney and I am not sure I would accept any. Knowing what I know about the case, and yes, I did not tell everything, I do not hold Disney responsible. Any business could have (a very few) employees who are "less than honest" that slip through the screening process.
Florida is known for this problem and I was lucky enough to have made some right decisions. Get the local police involved ASAP. Get someone who knows the legal system to "advise". Notify the company in order to solicite their cooperation, not blame. Let these people do their job. The theives were caught and jailed, I have or will have my credit repaired very soon. I am satisfied and ready, willing, and able to move on.

OOPs! They did send a letter of appoligy and assurance that they would cooperate fully with the police. Doesn't sound like much but that is what I asked them to do and that is how the theives were caught. Good people doing their job, so tell them what YOU want, then let them do it.

That is what I was looking for - a sense of closure from you. For some, it means a letter of apology, for other, it means a whirl-wind all-expense paid trip.
I hate to say this, but I'm glad you've brought this to our attention. You've certainly taught me something!

I am so sorry that you had your cc number stolen at Disney, but not everyone who lives and works in Florida are like that. I have lived in Florida for 30 years and have worked in retail since high school and have not heard of Florida's rep for being a bunch of credit card stealers. I do belive though Disney does owe you more of an apoligy. Plese do not hold it against all of us. I hope you have a better trip next time. My family and I are going to disney in May and will be on the watch out, for that is something I do anyway......
