We studied Disney in marketing and it was fascinating - I think their training has much to do with the quality of their employees. It used to be ongoing. However, like all things they've been changing, their employee benefits and training has been taking a bit of a dive in more recent years. Wouldn't you jut love to spend a month on the board?

Yeah, I heard on the Travel channel special last night that when WDW first started they employed 5,500. Now it's around 55,000!!

It's amazing to see how many people are honestly employed by Disney. I'm an "Cast Member" through the Walt Disney World College Program, though I'm not down in the park. I'm a CM at my school in NC. It's great! I've been through company training, known to insiders as "Traditions," but it gives you the basis for what the Disney name is all about. (as if I didn't already know!) Anyways, It's amazing how many people are just inside the parks cause of all the support staff that that place honestly needs!

I used to work down there. At Pinocchio's Village Haus, Fantasyland in MK. Hence the PVH in my name. Currently, I am a campus representative for the program. Tomorrow is our presentation, which is always big fun, cause we get to go out to eat afterwards paid for by the company! YAY! Free food. I get all my benefits back too....which is a blast. Now, if I wasn't a broke college student and could actually afford to go down there....

I was just at the Disney Store today, and got to talking to a CM. She was telling me some of the benefits. I said "sign me up!" She said that most of the Disney stores, as well as WDW, are not hiring right now. I'd love to work there part time. Or, I'd really like to work at one of the resorts, grand floridian!!

1. Free Admission to the park (and those who have been there for awhile, or are in management, can get others in) 2. Discounts on hotel rooms (I got my parents into Wilderness Lodge for like $100 a night.) 3. Discounts on Merchandise (Both in the parks, and any Disney Store) 4. Discounts at Full Service restaurants (which really helps even if it is only 20%, but once they add the 15% tip, you only saved 5%.) 5. Discounted Tickets (not only to our park, but to sea world, and other places (Not universal)) at Company D. Well, I know there are more, but I don't even know if I'm allowed to be telling you this stuff!! Hahaha....Now you know! ;)

Hey Natalie,
When did you do the CP? I was down there in Spring 2000 and had the time of my life. I was a Campus Rep after too and that was also great - got to keep the magic alive for a little while after my CP was over! Plus the summer after graduation I got to take a vacation to WDW for almost nothing because all my discounts were still in effect and they had sent the campus rep park hoppers as a thank you present, so I got to bring someone else for free! It was great! Karen

The number of Disney World cast members fluctuates with the seasons -- and the economy -- and ranges anywhere from 50,000 to 55,000.
Because of attendance declines, Disney isn't hiring at the moment and also has cut back on the hours of many employees. Around two-thirds of Disney World's visitors come from out of town and the parks have really felt the pinch of declining travel in the U.S. and abroad.

Heard from the Disney program (which was last wed), our disney recruit said current cast is at 65,000. And more than 44,000 college students have been through the college program. Just thought I'd pass this along.
