Have U ever worked at Disney World?

My DH and I are still thinking of relocating to Florida. His dream job would be to work in Disney World.

Has anyone ever worked for DW before? What was it like? Are they good to work for? I know they aren't hiring right now, but was wondering what's the best way to get a job there..

Someone told me that they don't even consider hiring you unless you already live in Florida... true?

Would love to know the scoop!;) From an insider!:)

My wife & I were in the same position a little over a year ago. We too were considering moving to Florida (I'm in the entertainment business and thought Orlando would be a great place to relocate to). On a house hunting trip to Orlando, we visited the Disney employment building (across from Downtown Disney). You are right ... they won't consider you unless you are a Florida resident. This was echoed by employees in the park we struck up conversations with.
In the end I would have been earning far less money than here in New York (then again depending on where in Florida you live, the cost of living may be a bit less than where you are now).
In the end we wound up buying a house in NY & are happy we did ... but still dream of eventually retiring to Florida (maybe by then I'll be "old enough" to play in the Grand Floridian band). :D

We too were thinking the same thing, that is a bummer that they won't even consider you unless your a FL resident. I guess we too will have to be looking forward to when we retire (Hmmm... that's like 40 something years away:cry:

Thanks for the info. We will be going down in May just to look around and see if we like it outside Mickey Land :-).

So we'll just have to wait and see.

You could always work at the Hilton Head Disney Resort, Willbe.

Luv, my cousin got a job by going to Casting while visiting Florida. It's near Downtown Disney. She was living here in NH. They sent her up a letter asking to see her again, she flew down, and was hired on the spot. It can happen.

She applied for a job in the Studios division, assistant production. She got the job of Mickey, instead. (she's short, and rather animated) She ended up moving over to the Big Red Boat after a couple of years, and traveled with them for another three.

BTW, Disney Cruise Line is constantly hiring, you can check out their website for information.
