Played Hooky to go to DCO
I skipped work today and drove to the Disney Catalog Outlet in Jonesville, SC. (75 miles away) What an experience...
The internet gave me directions to Jonesville (you know, the town in your state that has the school, a Main St Cafe and a body shop as the main drag). I was driving into this one-light town thinking that there is no way Disney would have an outlet in such a small place. I finally found the phone number when I felt comfortably lost. The directions were not good. :( I kept asking the guy, "Will I see your shop when I get there or do I need to LOOK for it." He said I would see it and boy did I ever! Its like Disney dropped this factory in the middle of a cow pasture. They even had the hidden Mickey type street signs to tell you where to park. :) I was a little disappointed in the discounts. These are supposed to be things that have been returned from customers or there weren't enough items left to continue to offer them in the catalog. Honestly, the "discount" was only about 15% at the most. ![]() I will say if you have time, they had boxes of personalized items (BIG BOXES) like sweatshirts, t-shirts, Christmas stockings, hats, and bags for 99 cents each. The odds of finding a "Gordon" were slim and the odds of finding a "Maggie Grace" were none so I didn't even look for "Mark." There were lots of Brittany's, Hailey's and Ryan's. Anyone else have any experience with one of these places? Maybe I just hit it on a bad day? :dazed

They set up a place like that here awhile back. I remember being really excited thinking that this was just going to be the coolest thing. Disney factory outlet who could ask for more. Well when I got there I came to find that this place was not run by Disney it was some sort of resale company and basically all they had was the previous years park merchandise ex. shirts that read WDW 1999 or Disneyland 2001. I was super disappointed.
Maybe I'm the only one but I just can't bring myself to wear a shirt that reads WDW 2001 unless I bought it at WDW in 2001, it sort of seems like cheating or something.. :hmmm

I am with you on that one alextina... I really can't see me collecting the pins from WDW that say Disney Relays 2001 or Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 1998. Some of them are really cool, but if I wasn't there and I didn't buy it there, I really don't want it.
As for the outlet...it is definitely Disney as it is attached to a distribution center for the catalog center. I have heard of some like you described as well though. Here's to better Disney discount shopping...I'll just stick with Disney.com
