Anyone I have talked too about vacations other than Disney always complain.
Whenever in Disney I always have a great time, great service and an experience of a lifetime. I can't even put a dollar amount on that!!!

You get what you pay for.........

Two Cents,

Re: Is Disney Greedy?

We don't go on vacation often enough to quibble about an increase in prices. Even a crummy little vacation to someplace boring costs a lot these days. And it feels good to splurge every now and then on soething that makes us all so happy.

Re: Is Disney Greedy?

I'm not happy about the increases and I'm not too interested in pricing out a vacation at the new rates yet, I don't want to know. But that said, I still think Disney provides good value. For us, saving on car rental makes up the difference in hotel rates. I still think you can create a vacation that suits the needs of your family and budget. I tell people, you can stay off property cheaper but factor in the car, the travel time(min. 1.5 hours daily) and "traffic" to and from (a nightmare on our last trip ) and I don't think it's worth it. If traveling with a little one, a box of cereal, loaf of bread and PB&J in the room can make all the differance. Meals can be pricey but servings are large and can easily be shared for little ones.

As to expenses for WDW, my DH works in industry and is quick to point out prices have all skyrocketed - steel, rubber, fuel, copper, feed grain, etc., and it all effects WDW. Ethonol is a great idea and hopefully a solution for the future but right now it's driving the price of grain close to that of fuel, and we still have to eat.

No easy answers but at least right now, I know we'll be back.

Re: Is Disney Greedy?

Yes, Disney is expensive and prices are going up, but prices are going up EVERYWHERE. And where else can you get the kind of magic that you get at Disney? I definitely think we get our dollar's worth and I would rather go there than anywhere else. The higher prices are not greed, they are a business trying to do well in a competitive market, and if you plan it right it's not so hard on your wallet. I will keep going to Disney and handle the prices because I would rather go there and be happy then settle for another vacation destination just because it would save me some money.

Re: Is Disney Greedy?

Nice to see such a passionate debate. I think many of you have made great points and certainly helped me out. In the end, I voted for It's a business like any other. I also have no doubt they produce a great product and one that we all love. My final thought is that they are no more greedy than any company including the one I work for.

Re: Is Disney Greedy?

I voted for a Business - but it's a business that I'm willing to pay for. We are going to "downsize" to probably just one trip a year - but that's a combo of wanting to move to a condo and also wanting to enjoy other places for holidays. I still think the best deal you can get for a vacation is a cruise. But nothing can come close to the Disney magic, and as long as we can handle it, we'll pay.

Re: Is Disney Greedy?

Nah....I don't think so. I think pricing has gone up everywhere (especially in the hotel industry).

I can't think of a better place to blow my money

Have you tried a Disney Cruise? Best of both worlds.

Ditto... makes it so much more difficult to get there!

I would love to be able to take a friend, but then Rachel would have to be able to take a friend, which means we would need a two-bedroom, which means we have to spend a lot of $$$$. Once again, I wish for a wider selection of rooms for parties of six. That's always tripping us up.

Yep - two of them and they were terrific! I'm saving my money for a Mediterranean Cruise with them in two years.
