I thought the press decided on its own that the pic was inappropriate. I certainly would never have considered the issue had I jsut seen the pics in Vanity Fair at the dentists office or something.

*Way back when (50s 60s and 70s), when things were way more prudish than they are today, formal portraits of proper young ladies were commonly taken with the young lady wearing just a wrap around her shoulders.

In this day and age of popular young stars' 16-year-old pregnancies, binge drinking and drug use and panties-optional appearances, I think this Cyrus pic is very much of a tempest in a teapot.

I agree with you completely. They showed her naked shoulders...she wasn't sitting on set topless. People just thrive off the negative. they just like to watch bad things happen to people...it's sickening.

I agree that the pics aren't as bad as they are made out to be in the media, but if blame is to be placed it should be on the adults who were present. I don't think Miley has done anything wrong or at the very least nothing more than most teenage girls. I can't imagine what images might be produced if all teenagers were followed by someone with a camera!

Exactly. I think these were meant to be art and not trash. I think everyone thinks of the Demi Moore (also not trashy) and the Madonna pic (a little racey, but not trashy) naked pics on the front of the magizine when they see this. She is showing shoulders...that's it. The inside pics are very tasteful and with clothes.

I think they are provacative to some sickos out there who will look at them in a different way. I think all those there are the shoot were duped when it was said they would be "artistic" sadly that is from another day and age to the realities of today. This is not right, but true I think.

No matter what I don't think they should have cancelled her performance. Many people are going to be so dissapointed.

I viewed the photos as well. I think they were very cute with the exception of the bare back and sheet photo. I realize that nothing was showing, just don't think it is appropriate for a 15 yr. old.

ONE thing I will say however, is that I DO NOT like how Billy and Tish are saying NOW that they did not ok the shot. I do not feel that is fair to Annie. She is a wonderful photographer, her work is fantastic. I just think that the more "daring, racy, etc." photos should be left to consenting adults.

My personal opinion is that certain music industry high rollers are not happy that a nice girl from DISNEY is raking in all the $$$$. So they decided to trash her. I know this sounds all "conspiracy theory" but I truly think there are many record labels that are not happy with Miley's success. The music industry is vicious and would not doubt it a bit.


My DD has no idea any of this is going on and I'm not going to tell her. I still think Miley is a wonderful role model for young girls. She made a teenage mistake (good grief most of us made worse ones). This isn't nearly as bad as the Vanessa Hudgens photos but it is getting so much more attention. To compare it to Jamie Lynn is just ludicrous.

Really, it's just that magazines ads are sold based on circulation, and TV ads are sold based on viewer numbers. So anything the media can do to drum up scandal means money in the coffers.

The photos aren't bad, they are artistic . . . maybe a bad judgement call by her parents . . . but it is what it is . . . they are making it out like she posed in PLAYBOY! Come on . . . I've seen 15 year old girls in the MALL wearing LESS!

Luckily most of her fans are young enough to be totally unaware of all this . . .

I will admitt that I think the father/daughter picture was a bit "strange" to me as well..to intimate and borderline couple-looking.

Miley Cyrus has been overexposed in the media (sorry, bad pun). Her music, TV shows, images are EVERYWHERE. And unfortunately in our tabloid-crazed culture, those on top are often taken down by such over-hyped shenanigans. Some people LOVE to see others fall for some reason. And they went after Miley HARD!

I wish her parents would pull back a bit. She's too young for such giant fame. Uhh, Michael Jackson for (bad) example!!!!

I honestly think that her parents have kept her pretty well-rounded and down-to-earth. Unless she is seriosuly acting in interviews, I think they have done a great job under the circumstances with keeping it real for her. They don't let her blow her money or buy nonsense...her Dad should know better than anyone that fame comes and goes and I think they instill in her to handle it well and enjoy it while it lasts...it could be gone tomorrow.
