Phishing
If you have stock in Disney, has anyone received a letter stating that your personnal info has been lost on Feb. 27, 2008, by BNY MELLON SHAREOWNER SERVICES (THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY employs them) and that you need to take appropriate action? I'am trying to confirm the letter with no luck so far.

YES, my parents, Rlander & I all recieved this letter yesterday. We are not sure if it is legitimate! I find it strange that it was not DISNEY contacting us. I am not going to give my personal information to just anyone until I know this is not a scam to steal our identities.

We have Disney stock too but as yet no letter? Maybe cos we are international? However, if this was from Disney then we would have had a letter as we have about everything else- I am sure you dont need reminding to be careful with this until its confirmed.

You know this letter is just bizarre. IT states that some "tapes" with personal information were lost, and some have been recovered but ours have not. It also states that they want to provide us with 24 months of credit protection. It goes as far as to list 3 or 4 different credit check agencies, etc. Ultimately they want you to give them your SSN in order to provide you with further coverage. |

do not give out your SSN!!!! it is like giving the keys to the castle! I know that goes without being said, but I would hate for anyone to go through identity theft!
