There are a number of companies that you can sign up with to "purchase" stock. The key is to not get forced into a program where you are on an automatic purchase plan or set monthly amounts, unless you have money to burn..

There are a number of websites where you can buy just one share.

As former CMs we have Disney shares (part of DHs contract) and we are not as happy about the drop as most of you

But 3.89 shares buys 1 point BLT...decisions, decisions.

Actually, the very THOUGHT of stock is making me sick to my stomach. Just got the quarterly statement in. So much for retirement - ever.

You have to be 18 to own stock, don't you?

I don't think I'd put my money into any company other than Disney. It's a wise choice considering who knows how many million families vacation to Disney every year? Not to mention, Disney covers most all areas of vacation and entertainment.

(hmmm..... we need a Disney airline in the future. Build up a Disney empire.)

We just got some quarterly statements today and I wouldn't even look at them, ignorance is bliss.

We got a single share years ago from our regular investment guy. We had to ask for the certificate to be sent to us instead of him so we could actually see it. We added the rest of our Disney stock later and I guess he has the paperwork on that.

But remember, you are basically paying ALOT for the actual stock certificate, transfer fee and frame ect... But, it was worth EVERY dime to see hanging above my computer desk!

If you want to buy more directly through Disney, you can. I read in my shareholder packet it was $100 or $1000 minimum? Either way, at the time it was out of my reach! PM me if you want the info- I can find it.

My retirement planner guy says he can get me more with less fees ect but I haven't gone for it yet. I will eventually. Maybe now is the time! LOL! We have a long way until retirement so, if it goes down for a while that is ok...Even then my only official goal for retirement is to retire at Disney so I guess I should either invest or buy lots of Disney Dollars!

One last thing... Just got a letter from the company that handles the Disney stock and the personal information related to my stock share (and many other people's) was somehow misplaced and our identities could have been compromised. Sounds an aweful lot like the letter we just got from Countrywide about an employee stealing and selling our personal info!!!! What is this coming to? Sorry, rant over!

Technically, I would think yes. But you can give it as a gift to anyone even a baby! No one asked for ID for us but you needed a credit card for the purchase.
