Sharebuilder is another site you can buy single stocks if you wish.
I think this is the company my BIL has used in the past if memory serves. The website is ShareBuilder from ING DIRECT: Buy Stocks Online and invest your money at ShareBuilder. You can do automatic investing for $4 or real-time trading for $10 a trade according to the website. Since we are doing the Dave Ramsey financial program right now, I must say that doing the whole day trading thing is one of his "very dangerous" ways to invest as you can lose a lot easily. It doesn't sound anyone is in the 'get rich' mindsets, but looking at this more for the long term. Someone once told my DH back in college that if you ever buy stocks you should "buy what you know & are familar with".

I used Sharebuilder at one point but that $10.00 a trade is outrageous! That with their other fees turned me off to them fast.

Okay.
Shares are now down at around $16.03 a share..  What I would do with a large cash settlement right now...
