Re: Lost
LOL,
I just found this thread. I live in Honolulu, and see the cast and crew filming all over the city. I report sightings on another board, and will try to remember to post the same info here. They shoot scenes a lot of places I've been to, and a bunch are within a mile and a half of my house!

Re: Lost
Well tonight's episode didn't really have any lightening moments. There were a couple of good scenes, and I guess you can't have big earth shattering revelations every week, but it was good.

Re: Lost
ooh-so glad I found this thread-we're huge lost fans.
Last summer were were at Disneyland, and we saw Hurley and his "entourage" walking through the Magic Kingdom. Then, at the LAX, I saw Jin and his family at the California Pizza Kitchen express at the airport (of course I said nothing, but I still consider it a celebrity sighting ![]() )I'm glad that they seem to be answering some questions this season though-finally!

Re: Lost tour of Downtown Honolulu filming locations
Regarding an episode about 2 weeks ago:
The street John Locke was waving at Walt on, is Bethel St. and I drive home past there every day. The steps Walt walked down is an actual pre-school. When they showed John from the front view, he was actually a block and a half further down on Merchant Street. They repaint all the window signs to make it look like another city. Also, the cemetery where the driver was shot, is just down from my house, or around the block from my daughters school. When my dad passed away, that's where we had the service. When John drove out of the cemetery, I also drive that road home every day. Nuuanu Avenue. I didn't get a real good look at the intersection where the car crash was, but it looked like two blocks away from my office. They must have shot that on a weekend when there was no traffic. South Street if I had to guess. The outdoor hospital scenes is St. Francis hospital (or HMC). Just below our house. The indoor scenes are mainly shot at the Hawaii Film Studio which is the back end of Diamond Head Crater. On Sunday's when I run by there, you can see all the vehicles they use in the show. Hurley's blue Dharma Volkswagon van, the police cars, the military trucks. The room that John was going to hang himself in, is a building right next to my work parking lot. I see them filming there all the time. And a guy I run with, lives in the building next to this building, so he confirms they often shoot there. I took my friend Marcia on a short tour of downtown LOST filming locations last night. O'Tools bar O'Toole's Irish Pub: Lost Virtual Tour Hawaii, and Murphy's bar, and several locations like the mortuary for Locke, the Seminary for Desmond (also Oxford University), the school Walt attends, the hospital where Jack, Ben, and Sayid were in the parking lot, and a few outdoor scenery shots made to look like London or Australia. 1 N. King St.: Lost Virtual Tour Hawaii McCain Auctions that we drove by last night, that was used for the travel agency that Locke was trying to get to Australia. Also used for the jewelry store where Desmond was trying to buy Penny an engagement ring, from Eloise Hawking (Daniel Faraday's mother). St. Andrews Priory: Lost Virtual Tour Hawaii St. Andrew's Priory, used for Desmond's monastery, and also for Oxford University. Liliha St.: Lost Virtual Tour Hawaii - Filming Locations Mortuary for Locke (very close to my house). In Search of More Filming Locations for ABC's Lost Bank that Kate robbed. Fisherman's Wharf, Kewalo Basin: Lost Virtual Tour Hawaii The bar that Ana Lucia was dropping off Jack's dad "in Australia". Re: Lost
This Saturday,
I plan to take my friend driving around the island for more locations. Will likely show her the Hawaii Film Studio behind Diamond Head. Sometimes when I run past there, I see all the cars used in scenes. For instance the blue Dharma Volkswagon van that Hurley & Charlie drove (also Ben and his father). The police cars, the Army vehicles, etc. If the weather is good, we may head to the North Shore so I can show her the beaches, where the plane first crashed, and also the beach where the survivors live. I will also try to stop by Manoa, where the Dharma locations are shot in the jungle (where Sun and Juliet went to do the sonogram for the baby). Near there is Paradise Park, where Locke, Kate, & Sawyer were locked up in the giant cages. The park is no longer open to the public. Kualoa Ranch is often used for outdoor shots, but they charge big bucks for their tour. Same scenery in the Jurassic Park movies. We'll see where the adventure takes us.

Re: Lost
Jeff... Mahalo.
I wish you had typed all this up 3 weeks ago before we went to Hawaii. I would have given you a call. We had a great time on Ohau. While there we took TheBus to the Polynesian Culture Center. On the ride home I sat next to a man named Dave. Come to find out he works for the production company that is filming LOST. For the 1 1/2 hours it took to get back to Waikiki, he put up with my constant questions about LOST.

Re: Lost
I took these pictures today during my run through part of Waikiki. I know many other locations, but I just need to remember to carry my camera with me.
My friend said his condo in Chinatown just was used for a location shoot last Friday night, for an upcoming episode with Charles Widmore and Eloise Hawking. It's at night, and supposed to be a hospital parking lot. This is the Hawaii Prince Hotel, which has been used in a few episodes. Like where Sun's other Korean boyfriend plunged to his death. Hawaii Prince Hotel: Lost Virtual Tour Hawaii http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...i/100_2036.jpg This is the corner where Ben recently was on a pay phone, and his face was all beaten up. No actual pay phone there, it was a prop. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...i/100_2038.jpg This is the Ilikai Hotel, used in several shows. (Also used in Hawaii Five-O, and Magnum P.I.). Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki Hotel: Lost Virtual Tour Hawaii http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...100_2039-1.jpg This is the spot where Desmond and Penny took a fake photo while in London, that was supposed to look like they were in Australia. It's the same Hawaii Prince Hotel in the background. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...i/100_2041.jpg This is the Ala Wai Canal Bridge, used in several scenes. Ala Wai Canal: Lost Virtual Tour - Filming Locations http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...i/100_2064.jpg This also is the Ala Wai Canal, used when Sun was walking her dog. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...i/100_2063.jpg This is inside the Hawaii Convention Center, which was in the very first episode. It was made up to look like an airport, and Oceanic Airline counters were where Jack, Jin & Sun, and Hurley were all checking in. Hawaii Convention Center: Lost Virtual Tour Hawaii http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...i/100_2069.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...i/100_2065.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...i/100_2068.jpg This is the Waikiki Yacht club, where recently Sun was pointing a gun at Ben, threatening to kill him. Kate, Jack, Sayid, and Desmond were all there as well. In the show, it's made to look like Long Beach Harbor. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...i/100_2073.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...i/100_2074.jpg What's really funny about the day they filmed the episode. There were about 30 production trucks, 100 crew members. They set up all day, filmed in the evening. And the scene lasted about 90 seconds on the screen. What a waste of time and money!!! We will be touring more sights in the next few days, so stay tuned for more reports.

Re: Lost
I can't thank you enough for posting these. Please do not stop.
We stayed at the Ilikai for two days while we were there in February. From our balcony we could watch them trying to pull back out the Navy Ship that had run ashore. Mahola, Jim

Re: Lost
Aloha Jim,
Yeah, we watched the Port Royal stuck off the reef runway from our house. I had binoculars so I could look down our mountain and see what they were doing. I live up near Kamehameha Schools, way up the mountain above Pali Hwy that goes to Kailua/Kaneohe. We look straight down to the airport reef runway. Here's what I hope to do tomorrow. A few more downtown site locations that have been London or Australia. Also, the YWCA that was where Sayid was from. It also doubled as a hotel that Ben was checking in to. Then to Manoa, near Paradise Park where they filmed the caged human scenes (Sawyer & Kate, and Locke), when Ben first appeared on the show. The park is not accessible, but we will be walking through there to get to Manoa Falls. They shoot the jungle scenes out there at night mostly, sometimes in the day. I was there after they shot the Dharma scene where Juliet and Sun went to do a sonogram inside the bunker. I didn't get a chance to take pictures, and several hours later, everything had been cleaned up and was gone. Amazing how fast the crew cleared everything. Then we're going to go to Kapiolani Community College, which is next to the Hawaii Film studio. I saw a picture recently that the wheel that moves the island, was just sitting there out in the open against a mobile trailer. They film most of the indoor scenes there on the sound studio. Also, usually the vehicles in the show are parked out in the lot. They were missing last Sunday, so that means they were either on location, or at another storage location near Dole Cannery by Chinatown. Daniel Dae Kim just became a co-owner of a burger joint in Kahala Mall, so we may go see if he's there. Then off to the North Shore to go to the survivor's beach where everyone is camped out, and then to Army beach some miles away, where the Oceanic Plane was originally "crashed." Some of the plane parts are stored out at Dillingham airfield, but I just read that some of it is now covered up with tarps and fenced in. We'll see if it's there or not, since we will be right there. Lastly, YMCA camp Erdman which serves as the "Others" village. Those yellow cabins can be rented for school and organization camping. Should be fun. A friend of a friend recently took one of the private circle island tours, which was several hundred dollars for two. They had a really good time, but I couldn't spend that much money myself on it. Aloha, Jeff

Re: Lost
Awesome. I wish we were going with you. Manoa falls was one of the hikes we had planned to go on while we were on O'ahu. We went during the Pro Bowl Weekend and were going to rely on TheBus since we were only going to be on O'ahu for 3 days before going to Maui and then finishing up our trip on the Big Island.
I would have loved to have seen Survivor beach, but the bus ride to La'ie was more than my little ones could handle. Had we gotten an earlier start up towards the North Shore that day, maybe we could have gotten it in. Looks like we are going to have to plan another trip back. Mahola, Jim
